In 1911 a young rural agent, V.J Byrnes opened the door of a business in Manilla, His mode of transport was a horse and sulky. He toured the district securing business everywhere he travelled, his ability to achieve results for his clients earned him one of the most respected names in the agency business for the best part of last century the business continued after his retirement and in 1984 was taken on by local agent V.J Flett who had served his Apprenticeship with V.J Byrnes and continued the principals of his predecessor working hard to achieve the best results for his clients.

In 1997 current owners Patrick Purtle and Bill Plevey took up the business upon the retirement of Vince Flett, the two expanded the business by each one focusing on their specialist field, Patrick evolving the stock sale section into one of the most successful in the region & Bill focusing on Real Estate, Property sales & clearing sales. In 2004 the company expanded to Gunnedah when it acquired a fifty percent share of Rex Carter stock and property with the idea of providing options for clients looking for sale yard options, the acquisition of Rex Carter shares has been a great asset to the business. Since the early years of the current ownership the strength of the business has grown through the strength of its staff from the principals; Patrick Purtle & Bill Plevey, Agents, Samuel Plevey & Todd Heffernan.
